Club History

The current club was incorporated as the Scots American Athletic Club of Kearny, NJ on January 20, 1932. The filing fee to the State of New Jersey was $15.00 and the club address at that time was 329 Devon Street, Kearny. The founding members were reportedly formed from a group of men who played horseshoes at the Archery Range on Passaic Avenue, Kearny who called themselves “The Kiters”. The object of the club, as stated in the first Rule Book:
“…. Shall be to promote good fellowship among all its members and to engender a more harmonious feeling among all.”
This was well stated and it is still the objective of the current club committee.
The club is now located at 40 Patterson Street, Kearny, New Jersey, Telephone (201) 991-9816.The first president of the club was Angus Hutchieson, about whom not too much is known by current members. We invite all current and past members and all others who can contribute to fill out the contact form below and send anything they feel might be of interest to our “McWebbers”! For instance, proudly displayed in our club is a photograph of a football (soccer) team called the Scots American FC which won the American Football Conference or Cup (AFC) in 1914.
